Installing SPIP

Looks like you do not have the free java 1.5 (or later) plugin for your browser. Java is a plugin which lets you do alot of cool things right from your browser... You should get it so you can create and view screencasts:
Requires JAVA 1.5 or later if you do not see anything above make sure you have java

    • 0:00When you have all the files freshly on your site... there is nothing to see,you have to configure the site.
    • 0:07let's go to the 'ecrire' directory... the private area of the site.
    • 0:15You can start configuring the installation of SPIP. You have a long choice of language for the interface if english is not your thing.
    • 0:29Setp 1: Enter the details of the database connection...
    • 0:45Step 2: Choose/Create the database where to install. In this case, I chose a database the server admin had created for me.
    • 0:52Step 3: Create your user account for accessing the private area.
    • 1:16If you have access to a LDAP directory, you can use that to register automatically your users.

    • 1:56You have a frest section, you can create new articles to publish or sub sections.
    • 2:01You will probably want to switch to another colour for the interface.
