  To start, type the web address for the New York Public Library (http://www.nypl.org)

  Notice the use of quotations for the search, this is used for a 'phrase search' or for when you want to search for words right next to each other in a document

  You should always click the option 'Full Text' as this will limit your search to only those documents available electronically, versus both electronic documents and just citations for documents

  You can also refine your search with Boolean operators: AND, OR and NOT
