    A quick tour of some of the features of the NYPL database Literature Resource Center. This database is useful for obtaining information about authors and their works, including literary criticism and works synopses.

      From the NYPL homepage, click the link 'Databases'

      Scroll down and click 'L' from the list of 'Databases by Title'

      First, we will search for information about a work by its title by clicking the 'Title' search link

      Notice the default tab, called Literary Criticism, Articles and Works Overviews

      The 'Additional Resources' tab will provide useful links to websites with information about the work or author(s)

      There is also a Literary-Historical timeline with facts and events about authors and their works

      There is also a tab for biographical information about the authors as well

      Click the HOME button to start a new search

      Notice that the default search for this database is an author search. Just type an authors last name, or part of it to search for him/her

      You are also able to perform an Advanced Search with this database to increase the precision of your search, giving you access to a number of specific search options.
