    Notes

    • 0:00Blogging _connects_ writers and readers. Technorati is the tool that makes this happen.
    • 1:47Class Blog includes...
    • 1:50...links to 21st c. education blogs so students can see what's possible...
    • 1:59...links to individual student blogs (we use WordPress MU - multiple users)...
    • 2:13Go to http://technorati.com and create an account.
    • 2:35Atomic Learning is a great (paid subscription) library of tutorials for every software you can imagine, Mac and PC.
    • 2:46Class blog also is portal to Moodle, Ning, wikis, our Diigo group, and other classroom tools we use.
    • 3:37Technorati shows previews of all your blog posts, PLUS links to your blog from other bloggers...
    • 3:44Technorati "authority" is based on the number of links to your blog from other individual blogs.
    • 3:52Technorati "rank" compares the number of blogs linked to your blog against the total number of blogs registered (8 million on this day!).
    • 4:56To create your blog's Technorati account, 1) copy the blog's address...
    • 5:09...2) click "edit" next to your username, then click "blogs."
    • 5:203) go through the four simple steps to "claim" your blog.
    • 6:18Important: click "code" (or "html" on Blogger) before pasting the Technorati claim code in your post!
    • 7:12Be sure to add a description and keywords ("tags") so others can find your blog in searches! That's how you connect with people!
    • 8:11Be smart here - use two-word and one-word run together tags for different searchers to find you.
    • 8:28Be sure to click "save blog info."
    • 8:45Copy your blog's Technorati address.
    • 9:03Paste your blog's Technorati page link into your blog's links bar.
    • 9:55Now readers of your blog can click your Technorati link to see what others have written about your blog!
    • 11:04You will come to know people this way too - and always be surprised by links to your blog.
    • 11:15Clicking links to your blog on Technorati takes you to the blogger that read you...
    • 11:37...and the real networking and connectedness begins.
    • 12:34Scandinavia??? Who knows where this will lead? Jan seems cool!
    • 12:45This is a Blogger (Google) blog, much easier to embed Technorati widgets on than WordPress...
    • 12:56Next tutorial: adding Sitemeter visitor tracker to your blog, and Clustrmaps widget...
    • 14:22Stay tuned for "What is Blogging?" tutorial #3 :)

Hi Clay. Thanks for all the screencasts, they have been really useful. Two questions: now that Technorati no longer allows you to claim a blog, do you have any recommendations on who to use? And secondly, on kisblogs, is it possible to use javascript? When I try to add a Digg widget the java script just disappears when I try to save.

      Thanks a lot,
