Notes
- Blogging _connects_ writers and readers. Technorati is the tool that makes this happen.
- Class Blog includes...
- ...links to 21st c. education blogs so students can see what's possible...
- ...links to individual student blogs (we use WordPress MU - multiple users)...
- Go to http://technorati.com and create an account.
- Atomic Learning is a great (paid subscription) library of tutorials for every software you can imagine, Mac and PC.
- Class blog also is portal to Moodle, Ning, wikis, our Diigo group, and other classroom tools we use.
- Technorati shows previews of all your blog posts, PLUS links to your blog from other bloggers...
- Technorati "authority" is based on the number of links to your blog from other individual blogs.
- Technorati "rank" compares the number of blogs linked to your blog against the total number of blogs registered (8 million on this day!).
- To create your blog's Technorati account, 1) copy the blog's address...
- ...2) click "edit" next to your username, then click "blogs."
- 3) go through the four simple steps to "claim" your blog.
- Important: click "code" (or "html" on Blogger) before pasting the Technorati claim code in your post!
- Be sure to add a description and keywords ("tags") so others can find your blog in searches! That's how you connect with people!
- Be smart here - use two-word and one-word run together tags for different searchers to find you.
- Be sure to click "save blog info."
- Copy your blog's Technorati address.
- Paste your blog's Technorati page link into your blog's links bar.
- Now readers of your blog can click your Technorati link to see what others have written about your blog!
- You will come to know people this way too - and always be surprised by links to your blog.
- Clicking links to your blog on Technorati takes you to the blogger that read you...
- ...and the real networking and connectedness begins.
- Scandinavia??? Who knows where this will lead? Jan seems cool!
- This is a Blogger (Google) blog, much easier to embed Technorati widgets on than WordPress...
- Next tutorial: adding Sitemeter visitor tracker to your blog, and Clustrmaps widget...
- Stay tuned for "What is Blogging?" tutorial #3 :)
