2. Installing Firefox Browser and Add-ons on your Mac

Looks like you do not have the free java 1.5 (or later) plugin for your browser. Java is a plugin which lets you do alot of cool things right from your browser... You should get it so you can create and view screencasts:

    • 0:00Open your "Safari" browser on your MacBook.
    • 0:35Go to "mozilla.com"
    • 1:00Make sure the "Download" button is for the ENGLSIH version before clicking it!
    • 1:40Click "continue" to install Firefox.
    • 1:52Drag and drop the Firefox icon into the "Applications" folder. Then double click the Firefox icon to open Firefox!
    • 2:40In FIrefox, go back to the mozilla.com page to install some cool add-ons!
    • 3:17Enter "diigo" in the search box on the add-ons page. (Diigo is a GREAT research tool. More on how to use it later.)
    • 3:34Install "Diigo" in your Firefox.
    • 4:36Enter "pdf" in your search box and install the "PDF Download" add-on.
    • 5:25Type "cool iris" in your search box and install the "Cooliris" add-on. (It IS cool.)
    • 5:46Notice the "Recommended Add-ons" page for more free add-ons for your Firefox. Install whatever you want!
    • 6:04Type "Answers" in your search box and add the "Answers" add-on. Instant pop-up definitions and links to articles about whatever word you click on while holding down the "Alt" key! Great for hard words or names in articles online!
    • 7:03Restart Firefox to see your new add-ons!
    • 7:47Hide any add-on toolbars by going to Firefox "View > Toolbars" and unchecking the ones you want to hide.
    • 8:13Next task: Making folders on your 'Bookmarks Toolbar": Go to your email website.
    • 8:27Right-click your email page and select "bookmark this page."
    • 8:44Select "Bookmarks toolbar" in the drop-down menu, then click "Create new folder," and label it "email."
    • 9:00Delete any unwanted folders from your Bookmarks Toolbar.
